In the wake of a woman’s tearful claim that Pastor John Lowe took her virginity on his office floor while she wore a purity ring, a Warsaw, Indiana, pastor, John Lowe received a standing ovation from his congregation after telling them he was stepping down due to adultery with one person at least two decades ago was met with anger minutes later.
Pastor John Lowe apologized to the church and said that he would stand down and face ecclesiastical censure.
Following his departure from the pulpit, a woman and her husband took their place at the lectern to speak to the assembled members.
Because she was just 16 when he had sex with her in his office 27 years ago, the lady argued that Lowe’s actions were more than just adultery.
While the legal age of consent in Indiana is 16, anyone who engages in sexual behavior with a minor over the age of 16 but under the age of 18 commits child seduction, according to state law.
One can expect up to 1.5 years in prison, and a fine of up to $10,000. The victim’s 31st birthday is the cut-off point for this case’s prosecution.
According to a Facebook Live broadcast provided by Maisey Cook, Pastor John Lowe II informed his congregation at New Life Christian Church and World Outreach on Sunday that he needed to make the confession because it was the “biblical” thing to do.
“I committed adultery. It was nearly 20 years ago. It continued far too long. It involved one person, and there has been no other nor any other situations of unbecoming conduct for the last 20 years. I will not use the Bible to defend, deflect, protect my past sin. I have no defense. I committed adultery,” Lowe said without sharing any specifics.
“I say it plainly. I didn’t have an issue. I didn’t have an affair. I didn’t make a misjudgment. I sinned. I need to say that, and you deserve to hear it,” he continued.
