As the 13th seed in the NCAA tournament, Davidson faced Maryland on March 15, 2007. Despite Curry’s game-high 30 points, Davidson fell 82–70.

First-team All-SoCon and All-Southern Conference honors were Curry’s as a freshman. He was also voted Southern Conference Freshman of the Year and SoCon Tournament MVP.

He was given the name Wardell Stephen “Dell” Curry on June 25th, 1964 in Newark, New Jersey. An ex-basketball star, he was a member of the NBA.

Since 1986, he has been the Charlotte Hornets’ all-time leading scorer (9,839) and three-point field goal maker (9,839) in the NBA (929).

Curry grew up in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and played four years at Virginia Tech, where he started all games. In 1986, Curry was selected the Metro Conference’s player of the year.

Curry’s accurate long-range shooting was not rewarded in college since the NCAA did not have a three-point line prior to the 1986–87 season, despite the fact that it had been adopted in numerous conferences at various distances.

Both his boys, Steph and Seth, are known for their excellent shooting abilities.

Although he played baseball at Virginia Tech and was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 14th round of the 1985 MLB draft, Curry decided to stick with basketball instead.

Curry concluded his Virginia Tech basketball career with 2,389 points (second all-time) and 295 steals (all-time leader). In baseball, he had a 6-1 record with a 3.81 ERA.

When he first became eligible for the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame, he was enshrined that year, in 1996.
