UPDATE: Several people injured as huge tornado hits New Orleans

As reported earlier by, multiple tornadoes were spotted in the New Orleans area on Tuesday evening, according to multiple forecasters and news outlets.

A large system was spotted near the Lower 9th Ward just after 7:30 p.m., according to storm footage captured by WDSU.

That tornado then crossed over to New Orleans East and was making its way toward Slidell just before 8 p.m., according to reports. News outlets reported that the tornado caused “severe” damage in Arabi.

The tornado warning was called off for Orleans Parish before 8 p.m. Prior to that, a tornado touching the ground in Lacombe was reported by multiple outlets.

BNO News reports that several people have been injured following the massive tornado and authorities have rushed to the scene.
