Marcus Smart is an American professional basketball player for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

The Celtics selected Smart as the sixth overall choice in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Prior to beginning games frequently in 2018 and taking over as the starting point guard in 2021 for the Celtics, he initially played off the bench.
He was named the 2021–22 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, and become NBA history’s sixth guard to receive the honor.
In addition, Smart has earned three selections to the NBA All-Defensive First Team and has won the NBA Hustle Award twice, in 2019 and 2022. In 2022, he assisted the Celtics in getting to the NBA Finals.
