Kent Bazemore is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association.

As a junior at Old Dominion University in 2010–11, Bazemore won the Lefty Driesell Award, an award given to the best defensive player in college basketball.

The 2007–08 season was a redshirt year for 6’5″ Kelford, North Carolina shooting guard Bazemore.

In his first season with the Monarchs, Bazemore averaged 4.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game while helping ODU win the Tournament in 2009.

The Colonial Athletic Association regular-season and tournament champions relied heavily on him as a sophomore starter.

Aside from his 8.4 points per game, Bazemore was averaging 8.4, 3.4, 4.2, and 1.9 steals per game. That season, he was selected to the CAA All-Defensive team.

Old Dominion repeated as tournament champions as a junior and advanced to the NCAA tournament, falling 60–58 to Butler.

Bazemore set career highs in points, rebounds, and steals, and was voted the CAA’s Defensive Player of the Year and a second-team All-Conference honoree for his efforts this year.

With his Lefty Driesell Award for the best defensive player, he was recognized on a national scale.
