Dwight Howard is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

He is an NBA champion, eight-time All-Star, eight-time All-NBA Team honoree, five-time All-Defensive Team member, and three-time Defensive Player of the Year.

During Howard’s rookie season, he became the first player to start all 82 games in an NBA season straight out of high school.

A unanimous All-Rookie Team selection for the 2005 NBA Rookie Challenge, he earned his place on the team. In addition, he came in third place in the poll for Rookie of the Year.

Having put on 20 pounds of muscle throughout the off-season, Howard reported to training camp for his second NBA season.
