D.J. Augustin is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

He played college basketball for the Texas Longhorns from 2006 to 2008. He was drafted ninth overall by the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2008 NBA draft.

He earned a 4.0 GPA in the fall 2007 semester, bringing his cumulative GPA to 3.64.

The College Sports Information Directors of America named him first-team Academic All-America on February 27, 2008.

Following Jim Krivacs, who got the award in 1979, he became the second Texas Longhorn basketball player to get it. Augustin was also chosen to the USBWA First Team All-America.

The Bob Cousy Award was presented to him by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on April 3, 2008.

Augustin declared himself eligible for the NBA Draft on April 23, 2008. Augustin hired an agent on June 3, 2008, forfeiting his remaining NCAA eligibility.
