Carmelo Anthony is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers. He has been named an NBA All-Star ten times and an All-NBA Team member six times.
Anthony’s NBA career began on June 26, 2003, when the Denver Nuggets selected him third overall in the NBA draft.
He was chosen third overall, behind LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers) and Darko Milii (second overall, Detroit Pistons).
On October 29, 2003, he made his NBA regular-season debut in an 80–72 home triumph over the San Antonio Spurs.
Anthony had 12 points, seven rebounds, and three assists on the night.
Anthony scored 30 points in his sixth NBA game (November 7 against the Los Angeles Clippers), making him the second-youngest player in NBA history to record 30 points in a game (19 years, 151 days; Kobe Bryant was the youngest).
Since the ABA–NBA merger, it took a Nuggets rookie the fewest games to score 30 points in a game.
With a 20-point performance in an 86–83 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on February 9, 2004, Anthony became the third-youngest player in NBA history to achieve the 1,000-point barrier.
