For the first five Bon Jovi albums, Alec John Such served as bassist, performing on classics such as “Livin’ on a Prayer,” “Wanted Dead or Alive,” “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “I’ll Be There for You,” as well as a few more.

Following his departure from the band in 1994, Hugh McDonald was brought in to fill in for Such.

Continuing, the band said, “Alec was always wild and full of life. I can’t help but grin and cry whenever I think about those great times. My heart goes out to his family.

Such was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018 along with his former bandmates for his contributions to Bon Jovi.

One of Bon Jovi’s founding bassists, Alec John Such, passed away at the age of 70.

The band released a statement on social media on Sunday confirming the passing of their former bassist. There was no mention of a cause of death.

One of the members of Jon Bon Jovi’s touring band, keyboardist David Bryan, tweeted, “RIP my soul brother…. Thank you for allowing me to share the stage with you, and for letting me be a part of your life.”
